Potty Training Seat For Toddlers To Get Your Kid Out of Diapers

everyone has a Potty Training Theory! Honestly, ask the guy this morning who was making your triple soy latte. Even that guy does have a theory. There’s a ton of advice – from throwing a potty training party to whipping out M&Ms as incentives to just letting your kid take the lead. So if you want to get your kid out of diapers we list best Potty Training Seat For Toddlers.
The truth is – it depends probably on your kid. But whatever itinerary you take, the right tools are needed. And that would mean finding the best potty chair or potty seat (or perhaps both).

Go ahead and google the options and you’re going to be so confused, you’re going to give up and just order Caribbean plane tickets.
Potty training is difficult enough so let us help. We looked through some of the most popular potty chairs and seats out there.

Find out about the available good ones, the ones you can skip and the ones that got the Alpha Mom Top Pick. But do some online searching before you buy to find the best price possible because prices can really vary.

But first, you have to know that potties fall into three categories:
1) standalone potty chairs
2) potty seats (goes over the toilet seat)
3) all-in-one potties (which are a combination of potty chairs and potty seats)

The Best Potty Training Seat For Toddlers

See Now

Depending on where you buy it, and if you can get it on sale, you can find the BABYBJORN potty chair for about $20-$40. This is your usual potty chair, stand-alone.

It rests on the floor and you lift it out to empty and clean the inner potty basin. There is a splash-guard to help prevent boys from spilling. It is robust, and will not tip over.

The high backrest is what I love the most about the potty chair. Having trained five kids potty now, I’ve noticed that some kids can spend a long time sitting on a potty waiting for the magic to happen – and I mean a very long time.

Thus the backrest makes your daughter or son much more relaxed and happy to hang out there. It is definitely one of my favourite go-to potty seats for my 3-year-old.
This comes in a bunch of different colours so you can let your child choose one of the bright ones or I prefer the choice white or grey so it doesn’t so much stand out in a bathroom.

  • Sturdy, high back, easy cleaning.

  • Priced way too high compared with other options.

Final Word on the BABYBJORN potty chair: For less money, you can find just about the same thing. Like the Lil ‘ Loo Potty Summer Infant which we’ll analyze below.

Summer Infant Lil’ Loo Potty Chair

See Now

The Summer Infant Lil ‘ Loo Potty is incredibly similar to the potty chair BABYBJORN (reviewed above) but so much less money for that. We find this on Amazon for about $10. It’s $10! What potty!
Like the BABYBJORN potty, it has a cleaning inside basin quick to clear, boys splash guard and a high back seat It comes in a few cool two-tone colours, like all white for those of us who want their potty seat under the radar to be more.

This is definitely a little heavier and bigger than the BABYBJORN. It weighs 1.9 lbs while the BABYJORN only weighs 1 lb. And you can see the difference in size here:

  • Great price, sturdy, high back, easy cleaning.

  • I didn’t find any weaknesses but some reviews on Amazon mentioned the size – meaning it seemed too big for their child.

Final Word on the Summer Infant Lil’ Loo Potty: For the money, you won’t find a better potty seat. It is a favourite of the drsufisparenting community members.

Munchkin Deluxe Potty Seat

See Now

On the Munchkin website, the Munchkin Deluxe Potty Seat is available for $14. Now it is not available on Amazon.

This seat is for kids 12 months and up (and you’re a miracle worker if you’re a potty training before that). This potty seat has some good features to it.

It has adjustable handles that make it easier for kids to sit on a large toilet. The seat is available with blue, green, purple or pink handles.
The potty seat is comfortable and cushiony, which my 3-year-old seems to like … though he’s more interested in talking about the Paw Patrol series than potty seat contours in all honesty.

But anything that prompts a child to remain on that potty is a plus. But the seat’s puffiness makes it a bit higher, which means he’s having more trouble climbing this seat.

This potty seat has a tendency to slip around once put on the adult toilet. It doesn’t sit as tightly as the Cozy Greens Potty Seat or the toilet trainer BABYBJORN (both reviewed below). This potty seat is slightly higher for deflecting pee in the front (especially helpful with boys).

The Munchkin Deluxe Potty Seat also has those plastic feet that make the seat next to the toilet comfortable to stand up to. It sounds like a dumb feature but not getting the potty seat laying on the floor is actually nice.

  • Affordable, adjustable handles,
  • cushiony seat,
  • higher front to reduce boy pee spray,
  • Plastic feet that means it can stand beside the toilet.

  • A little harder for my son to climb on top of this seat because of the puffiness adds height (but not a big issue), slides around a bit when on the toilet seat.

Final Word on the Munchkin Deluxe Potty Seat: For the price, this is a decent potty seat. But if you can invest some more, I prefer the Cozy Greens Potty Seat or the BABYBJORN Toilet Trainer (for both see below).

Cozy Greens Potty Seat

See Now

Actually, the Cozy Greens Potty Seat on Amazon costs about $18 and is a simple, very good quality seat. was very sturdy on My oval-sized toilet. It is also designed for fitting round toilet bowls.
The Cozy Greens Potty Seat has this “GrippySafe Anti-Slip Circle” on the seat which really kept my son safe and secure.

And to prevent accidents, there is a pee splash safety. But some of Amazon’s customers complained the splash guard isn’t high enough so their boys ended up peeing on the floor. The seat is definitely lower in height than the Toilet Trainer BABYBJORN (reviewed below).

Also, this potty seat comes with a suction cup and hook screw on your wall for safety. I’m just tossing mine behind the curtain of the shower, but you may be a little more polished than me.

The best thing about this seat is it comes with a lifetime guarantee. They will refund your money plus free shipping you another brand new one. You just can’t get better than that.

  • Affordable, sturdy, anti-slip seat, comes with a hook and suction cup for hanging,
  • lifetime guarantee,
  • easy for travel.

  • No handles that I think can be helpful for kids, some people don’t feel the splash guard is high enough even though I didn’t have this particular problem.

Final Word on the Cozy Greens Potty Seat: I think that’s really a great potty seat for the money. More than 5 per cent of their profits go to the charity that warms my heart. This is a favourite of drsufisparenting mom.

BABYBJORN Toilet Trainer

See Now

The seat on Amazon’s BABYBJORN Toilet Trainer will cost you around $24. The seat is white (with black or red line, either).

What’s special about this plastic seat is it has an adjustable knob on the back that helps make your toilet seat fit better. It is designed to fit most (round and oval) adult toilets.

It also has a high pee guard which can be of great help to boys. You’ll really start to appreciate this pee guard after you’ve cleaned up pee (which has sprayed all over your bathroom in some way).

One handle on the back should hang it up. If you are inclined to bring with you a potty seat (I wish I was this inspired as a parent) it is good for travel.

  • Adjustable seat for a more secure fit on your toilet,
  • high splash guard and fits most toilets (oval and round).

  • Priced higher than other standard chairs, such as the Cozy Greens Potty Seat and the Munchkin Deluxe Potty Seat.

Final Word on the BABYBJORN Toilet Trainer: I’m always a fan of the Bjorn brand because I think they’re producing good, quality products and this toilet seat is also a win.

Even if you’re paying more, you’re getting a seat that fits well and keeps your bathroom from getting covered in pee. can you put a price on this? It is a favourite of drsufisparenting mom.

Summer Infant 2-In-1 Toilet Trainer

See Now

This is a toilet seat that goes to your actual toilet and making sure you order the appropriate one depending on the shape of your toilet (round or oval) is very important before you order it. The 2-in-1 Summer Infant Toilet Trainer costs Amazon around $23.
I was very resistant to this potty seat proposal because I refuse to mount anything at all. You will remove the existing toilet seat and then install the 2-in-1 Summer Infant Toilet Trainer on top of the toilet. This toilet trainer has a regular seat for adults, and then a kid version that flips on top.
When I got this seat in the mail for the first time there were no directions and no hardware. I contacted the company and they sent out a new one directly (with a warning to take back the old one).

And I appreciated the speed and ease with which they handled the situation. It took us about 30 minutes to recruit my dad to help me mount the seat. The hardest part was to get my original seat off the toilet.

And, the Summer toilet trainer seat was too loose at first, but we managed to tighten it up. You won’t be able to tighten it up absolutely-the seat swings a bit back and forth.
What is so nice about this seat is that it will make your child feel very secure to sit on it. He or she is not going to feel like they’re going to fall into the toilet. And you’re not going to have a potty chair or seat sitting on the floor of your bathroom for months.

  • Affordable, great for a less-cluttered bathroom,
  • toddler feels comfortable and secure on the potty seat,
  • No dumping or separate potty cleaning (especially joyful when your child has a bowel movement).

  • You have to install the darn thing, and it will not feel as comfortable as your normal seat in the toilet.

Final Word on the Summer Infant 2-in-1 Toilet Trainer: For a 2-in-1 toilet seat this is a really good price. Fabulous for those of us who like a bathroom which is clutter-free.

And, it’s possible that the discomfort of installing this potty seat will be forgotten long when you’re not washing poop out of a potty chair because man is that gross. It is a favourite of drsufisparenting mom too.

Fisher-Price Learn-To-Flush Potty Chair

We’ve found the Fisher-Price Learn-to-Flush Potty on Amazon for around $26. As far as potties are concerned – this is fun and my 3-year-old son really enjoys it.

There is encouragement and a funny musical number about toilet paper when your child is peeing in the potty. It’s no Hamilton but I bet your kid is still quite excited about it.

And when your young child splashes the toilet, it’s going to light up, there’s going to be a flushing sound and an excited one, “Yay!”
There is a flexible potty ring that can potentially be used on an adult toilet (as the child grows or as an alternative to the musical potty seat) but I found it didn’t work very well with the adult toilet at all.

I have oval (not round) toilets in my home so maybe it’s safer for a round toilet. I found other customers were having the same problem, according to Amazon reviews.

This seat has no change in volume (bad!), but it can be switched off (good!). It seems to be a little haunted. In the middle of the night, the sound will just magically go off; so when you start dreaming about toilet paper, you’ll know why. The inner potty basin can be easily popped out for cleaning.

  • Lots of bells and whistles in their potty training for the toddler who needs a little more va-voom; has an off-button so there’s a solution if this seat makes you totally insane (which is pretty much wants).

  • A bit loud, the sound goes off randomly, the potty ring doesn’t work well on an adult-sized toilet.

Final Word on the Fisher-Price Learn-to-Flush Potty: This toilet is so enthusiastic that even the adults can chill out a bit on encouraging potty training. And which adult wouldn’t want time to chill out? But you are going to use that off-button.

The Prince Lionhearted 3-In-1 Potty Chair

See Now

The 3-in-1 Potty Prince Lionheart is on Amazon for about $35. That’s more than most potties so I want to make magic tricks or something of this thing. Sadly it doesn’t.
The 3-in-1 potty Prince Lionheart has three characteristics. It can be used as a standard kid potty. The potty seat can also be removed and placed on an adult toilet. It is finally transitioning into a step stool.

My favourite feature is the step stool, by far. Since potty training is a timely (okay maybe agonizingly long) blip. But one day, in reality, your child will be potty trained and you will have no use for a potty after that.

But that step stool can be used for years. It has a tidy, elegant look and can be brought into any part of the house. Right now we are using ours in the kitchen.

And it looks like a step stool and your friends won’t be like, “Why are you in your kitchen with a potty?” Which would be uncomfortable kind of.

The potty is really functional and for easy cleaning, you can easily take the inside potty basin out. But the potty seat in our adult toilet (we have an oval-shaped toilet) did not seem to suit very well.

This potty has boys splash guard that if you don’t want it you can pop out with no problem. On this potty, there is no backrest which is a bit of a bummer.

  • Love love loves that it turns into a stool.

  • Although you’re supposed to get three features for one potty’s price, I found the option to put the seat on an adult toilet wasn’t working really well. Price slightly higher than other options.
  • No backrest.

Final Word on the Prince Lionheart 3-in-1 Potty: I figured this potty was pretty functional and a nice stool. Just don’t intend to use the potty seat over an adult toilet.

Overall, this is a fairly good product. Especially because for years you can use this as a stool.

Our Favorite Potty Seats And Chairs

My 3.5-year-old really has a preference for the potty chairs (over the potty seats) and my choice is the Summer Infant Lil ‘ Loo Potty because, for a quality seat, it is a lot.

As far as potty seats (which go over your toilet) are concerned, I really liked the Cozy Greens Potty Seat and the BABYBJORN Toilet Trainer according to the needs of your individual child.

And if you like to mount stuff (there are actually people who do it), you can’t beat the 2-in-1 Summer Infant Toilet Trainer to help you keep your bathroom clean.
